BC Shot: Retail KPIs Business Case

There are countless posts about all new features included in latest Business Central 2023 Wave 1 release.

Most of these posts are based in official MSFT release notes and unfortunately some of them don't have a real match with typical business cases.

This post will be a first experience releasing a brand new section in this blog called BC Shots.

BC Shot will detail a function, feature, combination of features in order to map with a business case.

Business Case

• Retail Business with physical stores with a 3rd Party POS solution outside Business Central

• Sales integration between 3rd Party POS and Business Central G/L

Requirements

• KPI Sales per Num. Stores

• KPI Sales per Headcount

• KPI Sales per Retail Space

High Level Solution Design

• Sales generated in 3rd Party POS

• Integration to Business Central G/L via Journal Line API -> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/api-reference/v2.0/api/dynamics_journalline_create

• Statistical Accounts to support data for Num. Stores, Headcount and Retail Space

• Financial Report to create the KPI combining G/L Data and Statistical Accounts

How To

1. Create three new Statistical Accounts to support Num. Stores, Headcount and Retail Space.

2. Use Statistical Accounts Journal to import to BC the values of the Statistical Accounts per Date

Last step should be Register.

3. Use Statistical Account Balance to explore the variation of a specific Statistical Account.

4. Setup KPIs

Using Financial Reports (formerly Account Schedules), it's possible to config a new Report combining G/L Entries data and Statistical account data.
