This post is targeted for Functional and Technical Consultants working in Microsoft Business Applications.
In recent years, Microsoft Business Applications footprint is getting bigger. At least, there is five main areas: ERP, CRM, Power Platform, Data and Azure.
It's impossible to be expert in all areas at the same time but it's critical to know the fundamentals of each part is becoming more linked with others.
After working in Microsoft Business Applications space for the last years, it's clear to me the only way to get more and more skills and keep to be updated is:
being active in engagements (learning on the job)
plan and dedicate some time to self-learning with specialised training and certifications.
I really like this diagram showing a certification path for individuals that are interested upskilling in their main area (ERP, CRM or Power Platform).
If you are looking for some guidance to advance your career, earn recognition, and validate your technical expertise for current and future industry job roles with Microsoft Certifications for business applications, my proposal is:
start with Fundamentals exam/certification of your area of core competences (ERP, CRM or Power Platform) - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/browse/?type=fundamentals&expanded=dynamics-365
move to your next exam/certification (Core competences) with Associate level - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/browse/?expanded=dynamics-365&levels=intermediate&products=dynamics-365
move to other complementary Fundamentals exams - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/browse/?type=fundamentals&expanded=dynamics-365
move to your next exam/certification with Expert level - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/browse/?expanded=dynamics-365&products=dynamics-365&levels=advanced
And there is a next step that you must follow: becoming a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT).
Stay tuned as the next post will detail a fast track to become MCT and the main benefits.
